Angela leads the Native Hawaiian Legal Corporation’s newly established Family Legal Services Program where she is responsible for providing the legal services needed to assist ‘ohana with successfully navigating the legal system with an intentional focus on ensuring the physical and emotional wellbeing of keiki and kūpuna by advocating for their pilina to ʻohana, pilina to the lāhui, and pilina to the ʻāina.

Angela comes to NHLC with eighteen years of experience in family law, commencing her career in 2001 as a Deputy Attorney General in the Family Law Division representing the Department of Human Services in child welfare matters where she served for three years. Angela then went into private practice, primarily serving as a Court Appointed Guardian Ad Litem representing children and youth in the child welfare system, for twelve years in addition to representing clients in all types of family court proceedings.

Angela left private practice and worked at Kamehameha Schools as a Strategy Consultant from 2016-2021, where she was an integral contributor on various projects including student safety and community partnerships. Angela is a trained mediator, a certified volunteer with the Mediation Center of the Pacific, and a trained parenting coordinator with the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.

Angela was born and raised in Kuli’ou’ou, O’ahu, home to her Reeves/Kealoha ‘ohana since 1912, where she also has raised her keiki. In aloha for her ʻāina kūpuna she has served on the board of the Maunalua Fishpond Heritage Center since 2008 and co-founded Kupa’aina o Kuli’ou’ou in 2020 to advocate for and ensure the protection of natural and cultural resources in Kuli’ou’ou and Maunalua.

A former NHLC Board of Director, Angela has long believed in the mission of NHLC and looks forward to greater serving ‘ohana and the lāhui through the Family Legal Services Program.
